Serve with Something to Eat!
Jacob’s Well and Youthfront’s Something to Eat program are partnering together to help families in our community through packaging shelf-stable food.
Due to the essential nature of food distribution, Something to Eat™ has been able to adjust its packing program to provide meals under the current COVID-19 CDC and food code guidelines. You can assist by packing Something to Eat’s nutritious cheesy rice and vegetables meal for distribution to food pantries in our community.
A small group, preferably friends or family who are already spending time together, can volunteer for a timeslot to package meals at Youthfront’s Argentine facility, which has been specifically set up for small group meal-packing under the current state guidelines. A Youthfront staff member will maintain social distance to provide instruction, and the packing facility will be fully sanitized between volunteer sessions. The total number of volunteers in the space is capped at 20 for healthy and safety reasons.
Each meal costs $.30 but Youthfront has received a generous grant through the Kansas City Regional COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund to package 230,000 meals. We are currently in need of assistance to get some of these meals packed. Please sign up for a time to come and assist us. If you would like to make a donation to help feed even more families you are welcome to do so as we are grateful for any additional support you can give to assist in fighting food insecurity.
